Paidomazoma: The 28,000 Abducted Greek Children

Dr. Niki Karavasilis was born in the village of Trikorfon in northern Greek Macedonia and emigrated to the United States as a young woman. She quit high school at sixteen to work in the mills before earning a BA, Master's, and PhD, and taught foreign languages for thirty-five years at high school and college levels in Athens, Greece, and at universities in New England, including as a visiting professor at the University of Moscow, Madrid, Athens, and Cairo. She founded the New Hampshire workshop series In Search of Excellence in Teaching Foreign Languages, served as president of IBI (International Business Institute) in New England, Chairman and Examiner of Foreign Languages for the State of New Hampshire, and Director of the Cultural Heritage Alliance for European exchange programs. She was selected for Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the East, and Marquis Who's Who, and was commended by the Consul General of Spain in Boston and President Ronald Reagan for her work promoting foreign-language education. Upon retirement she became an author and lecturer on Greek politics and culture. She is married to Panagiotis ('Panos'), and has two children, Taki (Konstantinos) Karavasilis and Loula Kalampalikis, and a granddaughter, Dr. Alexus Kalampalikis.
