How print on demand works
Print on demand means each copy of your book is printed when someone orders it. A reader buys the paperback on Amazon, or a bookstore orders it through IngramSpark, and the printer makes that copy and ships it. The printing cost comes out of the sale price, and the rest is your royalty, paid into your own account.
Because nothing is printed in advance, there is no stock to pay for, no warehouse and no minimum order. Your book stays available for as long as it is listed, and a corrected file can replace the old one at any time.
Paperback, hardcover or both
A paperback is the usual place to start, because it has the lowest printing cost and the widest reach. A hardcover edition suits gift books, memoirs, children's books and books that libraries are likely to buy, and Nova sets up hardcover editions too, including hardcover with a dust jacket.
Each format gets its own ISBN and its own listing. We choose the trim size, paper and finish with you, based on your genre, your page count and the price you want to sell at, then size the spine to your final page count.
Bulk copies for events, signings and schools
When you want boxes of books in hand for a launch party, a signing, a conference table or a school visit, Nova quotes a bulk print run for that order. Bulk copies use the same files as your retail edition, so the book a reader buys online matches the one you sign in person.
